Improve Seafood Export Conditions by strengthening the capacities of Dominican Republic IOs and promoting the


The project aimed at strengthening the capacities of the Intermediary Organizations and CODOPESCA (national competent authority for controls in fishery) to put in place official controls for the Fishery Products to provide guarantees equivalent to Community requirements in order to including Dominican Republic among the countries allowed to export Fishery Products to the EU opening a global market for Dominican fishery/aquaculture SMEs. Moreover, a strong support has been focused particularly to the fisheries/aquaculture SMEs that have the interest/capacity to export fishery products to EU. The main results have been: the improvement of the level and quality of policy dialogue between public and private sectors; improvement of the capacity of intermediary organizations to provide good quality, additional and enhanced services to their members and stakeholders; improvement of the capacity of intermediary organizations to assist ACP enterprises business; development of ACP intermediary organizations networks and strengthening/development of networks between intermediary organizations in ACP, EU and possibly other countries.
